Aquaponics

To grow our plants we use a variety of aquaponic methods.

Aquaponics is the integration of Aquaculture and Hydroponics:

Aquaculture – Farming fish in a controlled environment

Hydroponics- Growing plants in a soil-less habitat

The combination of these two ingredients create an ideal eco-system for crops to thrive.

Our aquaponic systems put a modern spin on what nature has been doing since the beginning. We feed our fish all natural food, the fish then fertilize the water that is filtered and then distributed to the plants. The plants absorb the nutrient-rich water and at the same time clean the water that is returned to the fish in an eco-friendly cycle.

Aquaponics benefits:

             NO chemical fertilizers

             NO pesticides/herbicides

             Non-GMO

Uses about 10% of the water that traditional methods use

Ground Crops

Not all crops do well in aquaponics.  We do also plant certain crops the traditional way straight in the dirt.

Such crops are:

Carrots, Beets, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Squash, Melons, and Okra.

Mushrooms

We have started down the rabbit hole.   We are currently producing Gray and Pink Oyster, also working on Lions mane.
